CivicMJD was established in 2017 and brings together two of Australia’s most respected valuation and property consultancies, Civic Valuations Pty Ltd and MJ Davis Realty Appraisals Pty Ltd.  

Together, our businesses have a combined history that stretches back more than 75 years. The combined strength of our experience brings a new level of support and expertise to the valuation industry.  

Civic MJD Australia (formerly Oceanic Property Valuations) commenced as a national property valuation company which operates across Australasia and comprises multi-skilled property valuers and professionals with extensive senior property valuation and consulting experience, which specialises in offering independent and impartial property advice to a private, corporate and government client base in a co-ordinated property valuation service across Australasia.

Civic MJD Australia is not a subsidiary of any firms that have their primary interests in real estate sales and leasing. Accordingly, our clients’ interests always come first. The primary focus of Civic MJD Australia  is to provide a national business collective that serves the Australian marketplace and to market Civic MJD Australia as a leading group of independent valuation practices in Australia to existing and prospective clients.

John Woods /

With over 35 years industry experience  John is a fellow of the Australian Property Institute and Certified Practising Valuer with unlimited registration and has valued all classes of property within NSW. Known within the industry for his technical ability and thorough understanding of the broader industry issues that impact the Property, Government  and banking sectors. John’s diverse knowledge of valuations was built during his 19 years as Senior Valuer at the Valuer Generals Office where he was involved in statutory valuations, government assets, acquisitions and project management. John, comes to Civic MJD in the Role of National Head of Compliance and Business Operations.

Murray Liston / AAPI CPV

Murray began his career as a valuer in 1999 and has extensive
experience in commercial, retail and industrial property including specialised assets and prestige residential valuations. This includes experience valuing affordable housing projects, medium to high density residential developments and the like. He is a former director and equity partner of MJ Davis Valuations.

Robert Hendrey

Over 30 years of expertise, extensive experience in the Residential and Commercial / Industrial Mortgage Valuation sector as well as Residential Development and Construction, Capital Gains Tax, Expert Witness, Forensic Valuations, and representing clients for Family Law and other Court purposes. Robert has held a number of positions with the API and brings a considered expertise to client relationships. He has also held several directorships over the years with a large part of his career being involved in private practice offering an exceptional level of service to clients.

Peter Panopoulos / AAPI CPV

Peter has more that 20 years experience as a valuer. Over that time, he has dealt primarily with development sites, multi-tenanted commercial assets in the Sydney CBD and wider metropolitan area. He has valued top-tier CBD assets for major lenders, and is proficient in acquisition and disposal projects, rent reviews, expert witness cases and a specialist in Social and Affordable Housing projects.

Milton is the founder of Oceanic Property Valuations, Property Dynamics and the CivicMJD Australia project.  Milton's property guidance knowledge is from high level corporate and government consulting, including being Director of Valuations & Consulting at Knight Frank for over 10 years. Milton has since directed a range of long term consultancy assignments with many corporate and government entities. Core responsibilities include property asset use strategies, feasibility analysis, corporate investment, rental and forensic valuations. Milton holds Fellow memberships at both the Australian Property Institute and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, is a past President of the Victorian Division of the API, a past National Vice-President and currently a Divisional Councillor.

Matt Garmony

Matt is the Managing Director of Civic MJD - Garmony (WA), is a Fellow of the API, a CPV, LREA, CPP & CDP. Matt has been in the property industry since 1994 commencing with John Garmony & Associates.  Matt is a past Chairman of the Young Property Professionals of and now current API State Committee/Board Member. Matt has been awarded the API’s Excellence in Property Award and is an industry recognised expert in the valuation of Service Stations and Roadhouses, Golf Courses, Retirement Villages, Motor Racing tracks, ground and sea bed leases, residential development sites, market rent reviews and litigation matters. Currently on the Western Australian State Committee of the API and is the lead representative on the Strata Titles Act Reform Committee and has been on the Western Australian Planning Commission’s Board of Valuers since 2013.
