Hugh Bristow, our senior consultant valuer in Brisbane had a night away from the keyboard only to find himself on, guess what, another keyboard and even a sax at the tenth Jurassic Jam at The Triffid, a venue run by Powderfinger’s bassist John Collins.
Jurassic Jam is the major fundraiser for the autism charity AEIOU and is held at the funky former USAF igloo in Newstead in Brisbane’s inner north that has hosted some stellar acts over the years, Paul Dempsey, Luca Brasi and Frenzal Rhomb to name but a few.
Over 600 ragers turned out and moshed all evening, a night that finished with Hugh’s band The Manilows solid version of the defacto Baby Boomer national anthem AC/DC’s “Long Way to the Top” which indeed it has been for most of the band!
The best performance on the night was from the friends and supporters as a new record $82,000 was raised.
